2 Timothy/ Warnings of the Last Days

2 Timothy 3:1

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

I recently heard a story from a pastor who was warning the Church about those who have suck into the Church not following the call of God, but for other reasons. He said he had taken his final exam in the seminary when the instructor asked all the students, now that they had completed their education, how many of them did not believe in the things they had learned. The man said it was like being in the twilight zone as the vast majority raised their hands; and then the instructor raised his hands also. Does this not sound like:  Have nothing to do with such people?

Listen to some of the other warnings Paul gives Timothy.

They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived

Have we come to the place where we are willing to be persecuted for the truth of the Gospel? It is where others can receive salvation from.

2 Timothy: 4

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Evolution is a big myth. People run to it because if it were true they would not be accountable to God. They would be their own god.

Romans 1:28

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

2 Timothy 4:8

8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

There is a blessing waiting for us. It is our responsibility to be alert and discern the truth of God and confront evil in the Church. Let us be vigilant and faithful stewards in the house of God our Father.
